Most days are spent before they are chosen. The phone is awake before you are, a hundred things are asking for a minute, and by noon the thing you meant to do is still waiting. This is not a failure of discipline. It is what happens when software is built to hold attention rather than to spend it well.
Then AI arrived, and its promise was to take the hard parts off your hands. We think that gets it backwards. What a model does well, transcribing, sorting, summarizing, searching, was never the hard part. The hard part is knowing what matters today, understanding something well enough to hold a view of your own, and saying what you mean. Those are the parts that make a person capable, and they are the parts that fade when you stop doing them.
So we started a lab with one narrow aim: software that takes the machine’s share of a task and gives the rest back to you, a little more able than before.
